First Family Vacation - San Francisco Day 3

Today was the day - Hubby's presentation day! Even so, after hearing about me and Baby J's escapades yesterday, he wanted to tag along on our morning outing. First stop - the famous Lombard Street - the so-called crookiest street in America!

Hubby was jealous he did not get to ride the cable car yesterday with us so we hopped on the California line right outside our hotel with the intention to transfer to the Powell-Hyde cable car line. Unfortunately, the Powell-Hyde cable car was soooooo crowded that we ended up taking a taxi.

About to hop onto the California cable car line

Family pic at the bottom of Lombard Street - Miss J was well into her morning nap by the time we got there.

We had to walk up Lombard Street to get back onto the cable car. . .we really need to start working out!

After visiting Lombard Street, Hubby was starting to feel nervous about his speech so Baby J and I took him back to the hotel and headed on out again!

This time we took a bus to Alamo Square where we paid a visit to the painted ladies, aka postcard row, aka house seen in opening credits of Full House.

It was well after 12pm (sun high in the sky) so the pictures do no justice to the colors and architecture of these houses. Each house was a different color with white trim. Some were yellow, blue, brown, green and yet they all seemed to go with one another.

After sunning ourselves in the lush, green grass and Miss J's first diaper change on a park bench we left Alamo Square and walked down the hill to peruse the shops and restaurants in Hayes Valley. It's a really cute, hip neighborhood with alot of boutiques and art galleries. The impression I got is that this is where the cool and hip young urbanites live and hang out. I found several really cute children's boutiques but the sales associates/shopkeepers were a little too snooty for my tastes.

After an afternoon of exploring we met up with Hubby who was riding a high from his well-received speech. To celebrate, we decided to have dinner at Caffe Sport in Russian Hill. On the way there we had the chance to see the TransAmerica building and a little bit more of Chinatown. Caffe Sport is a small, Italian restaurant highly recommended to us by Ed and Bryan. The food was sooooooo good! It was so good, I was in a food coma after our meal and forgot to have the waiter take a picture of us. Even though she was very sleepy, Baby J rolled with the punches and did not create a fuss. :-)

After dinner, we were strolling through Washington Square, caught a glimpse of Coit Tower and decided now was the time to visit.

We knew Coit Tower was in Telegraph Hill but in our excitement did not realize we would have to walk UP the hill to get there.

When we arrived I was worried there would be no elevator service to the top - thankfully there was! The elevator was old and rickety but it got us up there! The view made all the walking well worth it!

Baby J fell asleep during a trek up one of the hills and stayed asleep the rest of the evening. She did not even wake when we got back to the hotel and changed her into PJs!
